Where to hang it
Pendant lights over a kitchen island
Size the light to roughly half to two-thirds of the island’s width. A 180 cm island takes about 90–120 cm of pendant: one large piece, or a row of smaller ones adding up to it. Three Loomiosa families are made for this position: Libra, Model 8 and Galaxy.
Which size fits your island
Measure the island along its longest side, then read across. Every size below comes from the official Loomiosa data sheet; the fit is calculated from the sizing rule, not chosen by hand.
| Island width | Sizes that fit |
|---|---|
| 150 cm | Model 8 81 (81 cm) Model 8 100 (100 cm) Galaxy 100 (100 cm) |
| 180 cm | Model 8 100 (100 cm) Galaxy 100 (100 cm) |
| 210 cm | Libra 127 (127 cm) Model 8 128 (128 cm) Galaxy 135 (135 cm) |
| 240 cm | Libra 127 (127 cm) Model 8 128 (128 cm) Galaxy 135 (135 cm) |
| 270 cm | Galaxy 135 (135 cm) Model 8 163 (163 cm) |
| 300 cm | Model 8 163 (163 cm) Libra 190 (190 cm) |
A size appears in a row when the rule places it over that island width. Where a row is empty, combine two smaller lights instead (see below).
One large light, or several small ones?
Both work, and the arithmetic is the same: a row of pendants should together span the same half-to-two-thirds of the island. Two lights hung over a 240 cm island want about 120–160 cm between the outer edges, not each. A single wide fixture reads calmer; a row gives more even light along a working surface.
How high above the counter
The convention is 75–90 cm between the countertop and the bottom of the light: high enough to see across the island, low enough to light the surface. This is an interior-design convention, not a Loomiosa measurement. Our lamps ship with a 150–300 cm textile cable depending on model and size, shortened on installation, so the height is set on site.
The three families for this position
Recommended by Daniel Mato, who designs every Loomiosa product. Each links to its full specification, sizes and dimension drawings.
Libra Balance and stillness. The longest of the family, made for kitchen islands and long tables.
Model 8 Grown out of the Space 96. Some see infinity in its form, others a flying butterfly.
Galaxy The night sky, reduced to its orbits. Its flat form works where the ceiling is low. Not sure which size?
Send us the island’s dimensions and the ceiling height, and we will come back with a recommendation and a quote.
